The (subjective) Year in Review 2010

The Year coming to an end, and how beautiful it is for a regular music blog, pulled even with Darklands balance, knowing that this is completely subjective.

my personal view of the Year in each 10 favorite albums and songs can be found below. The first time I did this last year (2009). The result you can read if you follow the link below.

IndiMichi's favorite music 2010

TOP10 albums 2010

first Feeding Fingers - Detach Me From My Head

Great melodies, Robert Smith-like vocals and very varied - The Feeding Fingers are getting better.

second Motorama - convince Alps

The Russian band Motorama with their first complete album continues, even if they come across not as dark as yet on their first EP's.

third Pink Turns Blue - Storm

A perfect post-punk / New Wave album - as if Pink Turns Blue never were different than on their first two discs.

4th I Like Trains - He Who Saw the Deep

The I Like Trains have become tamer, but the album wins scary time and is different, but official amount of not less than the previous two.

5th The Radio Dept. - Clinging To A Scheme

The I long-awaited new album of the Swedes - as expected with lots of musical gems of pure indie-pop's.

6th Zola Jesus - Stridulum II

first discovered at a second glance, but then I was cut loose from the album stool.

7th Pen Expers - Dirty Tender Love

for myself Pen Expers the best Nick Cave album recorded since Tender Pray.

8th Ikaria - Luxembourg

Ikaria shows on the album that they can do more than just write summer songs such as transmitters.

9th Perfume Genius - Learning

For me, "the" Singer / Somgwriter album of the year - intense and fragile!

10th Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark - History Of Modern

The comeback album of the year one of my favorite bands of the 80s.

Chinese Crested Powder Puff

The Church Hill Garden - New songs, now with Cover

It is certainly only a question of time before Andy aka Jossi The Church Hill Garden presents the first complete album. In any event bubbling new songs, some with vocals, more and more frequently from his pen. Now he has also designed more appropriate to cover.

Anyone who has read the recent article on Darklands to The Church Hill Garden who knows that I think Andy Jossi for a great photographer. He has that special eye for the object and is able, the aesthetics of his Motives Colors, and geometrically to conserve in its image. - Always focused on the essentials. This is something that can not learn it. Either you have it - or you do not! Andy Jossi has it! Of this you can convince yourselves. On the one hand to the website of The Church Hill Garden , where he presented numerous photographs, the other was here at Darklands, because I've included three of the most beautiful cover this article, to give it a little shine.

But what would be the best cover without the music, which they are to give a pictorial envelope. Remains at the end again and this is the music for this blog good. In the latter month, The Church Hill Garden the instrumental The Swan published (probably not difficult to identify its cover).
had this song - as well as some older works - fit, without question, to what some Musifreunde probably the best The Cure album Disintegration. To the good Andy Jossi blame but can not just write songs (Robert Smith today would probably be happy if he would succeed in such musical gems again),
he conjures a vocal version of 1001 Wee Birds off the cuff, with the female vocals in the best Heavenly Voies meets shoegaze-style à la Cocteau Twins, comes along and taught us as a lesson, please also note the wonderful text that is certainly supported by the music in his statement intended, but also would do without this - pure poetry!

Musically I personally The Church Hill Garden do better when they deliver such great indie-pop, such as with Cecile, a song that the vocal version with Damien (from The Opera Glasses and The Cure Project) to My personal favorite is one of the ending year. This is probably because I make everything somehow in the direction The Cure is in itself ever feel as beautiful, but that is fortunately a matter of taste. For you, you must decide how the always himself.

Slow Songs Of The 80s

Zola Jesus - love at second glance

your surely knows: At some point grabs you in the name of a band or a musician may hear one of their songs ... and forgets the whole thing again (made) a second time until attention is.

And now you take the time it deserves and digs a little deeper ... until they discovered an album full of musical gems. Finally, one must ask, how could it happen that you went smooth the first time over it. Imagine the consequences if it were not for the second time.

what happened at the latest album from Zola Jesus alias Nika Roza Danilova, a Amerkanerin with Russian roots. The album, which we are going to say Stridulum II and is the essence of a pool of about 50 songs by the artist mostly at home has started. Specifically speaking, it does not really new album, but only a third of the nine songs are previously unreleased. The rest is from the EP Stridulum.

Zola Jesus convinces Stridulum II with an expressive voice is somewhere between Siouxsie Sioux and Alanis Morissette.Untermalt the singing of a mixture of industrial bonds, noise samples, Cold Wave sequences and Singer / Songwriter structures . Overall spread the songs of the album a romantically gloomy, sometimes morbid atmosphere.

Stridulum II is an album which is on the path away from the mainstream and the popular alternative / indie rail moves. It is conspicuous by its innovative, avant-garde character and is the opposite of boring. But it demands the listener's attention, it needs to the new, to explore different and the time to understand this. For me it would be almost gone wrong. To help that you may not commit the same mistake, here are support for the ears (in the form of two older songs of the 12 "CD The Spoils for free download) and eyes (in the form of links to informative web sites).

Why Does Crystal Meth Make You Ugly

No More - musical heroes of my youth

Something very nice - no more very special ... and also something that makes me awesome as a real music lover through and through, still a little solidify and yet incredibly proud is it when one is addressed by the bands that have been revered as the very young.

The above situation I've ever seen twice in the last year, when I was contacted by Violent Vision and three weeks ago, when I anschrieben No More .
No More? The "No More "? Yes have exactly that which the early 80s to date in any well-stocked DJ set missing New Wave classic Suicide Commando published. Oh, what have I danced to it! The view before me lowered to the ground ... two steps forward and two Steps back ... supported by the music that is a synonym for what to me this style so unique: cool sounds - from monotony and melody, in any case with melancholy - sung by black-clad musicians that their clothes and their color is not a fashion but perceive as life.

The biography of the first years of No More reflects the lifestyle of a part of a generation back, which is not even 10 years older than mine. It all began in Kiel in the summer of 1979. Frustrated and bored by their school band form Andy Black, Tina Sanudakura and Christian Darc No More. They are recruited as bass player Thomas Welz, a school friend who has hitherto been playing an instrument. Beginning of 1980 are No More integral and important part of the Kiel scene, on the first cassette sampler NO Kiel KIEL represent, produce and distribute their first cassette releases and play their first appearance before a wider audience on a youth festival.

No More out their EP Too Late in a small laundry room next to their rehearsal room. Due to a broken intentionally made Teac 4-track, the sound is referred to by the press as archaic. how times change ... . A year later the quartet reduced to a trio, which still twice the occupation on the position of bass player moved before the end of 1986 we decided to separate. Until then recorded the music of No More thereby made to move not only to the usual genre musical paths, but always to be open to new influences. SO works is an example, even oriental elements in the songs. Therefore it's no surprise at all if the music that Andy Black and Tina Sanudakura made after the release of No More with their project Nijinsky, stylistically moving between songs, waltz and tango.

Twenty years after the separation resuscitated Andy Black and Tina Sanudakura the band No More and published 2006 Remake / Remodel a new album. Since 2008, there No More enjoy live again. It celebrates the successful duo concerts on stages in many European capitals as to sample in Warsaw, Copenhagen, Athens, Stockholm, Milan, Rome, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Munich, Berlin and Paris. Early 2010, then appeared the latest album which is called Midnight People and Lo-Life with stars. Stylistically, the Album.meiner think this time in the area indie rock is classified. It occurred while listening to the often last year's album of Philip Boa to mind. Not a bad association I think.

Who today No More Concert visits can expect good stuff. Because of their incredibly great musicians and stage experience the band in a position always good for surprises. Time they use traditional song structures, and then it looped through songs and play live extravagant covers of Velvet Underground's Waiting For The Man and the New Wave classic "Hands In The Dark". Then again, they turn old songs into noise-disco hits and get the latest songs with minimal electronica to the point. No More own comments on that as follows: "We take songs from any No More phase, as well as new songs and turn them jointly, by the time Wolf and comes out great. rhythmic noise, pop stop. "If that's not reason enough for a next opportunity to visit No More concert, which I can not help.

Anyone who would like more information about the band, which may include the Links do. There is also a free song from No More contained in a paper published in this year sampler from Peru.

Film Substitutes For Polaroid One

EGOamp - Giving before Christmas Eve

The best gifts are the ones that you do not counted. In this case there is a fine EP for free download that will please most fans of the New Waves Underground of the 80s very much.

talking about the Szenehit The Cabinet of the British New Waver The Kabinette.Und who endowed us? The band EGOamp that cover this absolute Szenehit-80s could. In addition, the enhanced EP remixes of the classic by artists from Russia, France, Argentina, Spain and France. In addition to the various interpretations as a harbinger for the upcoming album of remixes of songs Egomanic Manicas and The Camera included. The album will be called Welcome to the bear Cabinet and is to appear in spring 2011. There will be an excess (self-) irony that can be proven by the optical Erscheingsbild the two musicians, themaisiert different things: It is, for example, loneliness, revenge, and in particular to the silent movie at the beginning of the last century. So we can look forward to this debut album.

EGOamp is from Germany and its members listen to such names as Asmodi Caligari and Cesare Insomnia. The EP now present the duo can be seen in the silent era as a homage, in their love for New Wave music of the 80s to work effectively. The two Lords of EGOamp are no pure studio musicians. Also live performances are on the Proramm. Then the duo to a quartet and Jane Overnight (vocals and percussion) and sound wizard Chris Castle (sounds) and amplified.

Attached to enjoy the video of the original, a song of this year already in the top 50 places the Last.fm group radio-shadow play, and was thus demonstrated their good taste in music. "Who feels refer also to his musical taste in the TOP50 into the project, is cordially invited to join our community Last.fm.

The Cabinet - The Cabinet

(TPPPT) The Punk Post Punk Tribe if a favorable opportunity arises. These are certainly the positive side issues arising from my (lately kind of neglected came about) activities with radio-shadow play and the accompanying music video Darklands.

Without radio-shadow play and Darklands me - and perhaps you - certainly gone through Céleste Noir
. Fortunately this is not the case, as the band from North Rhine-Westphalia, recommended Synthpop. The spectrum ranges from extremely danceable songs with driving keyboard melodies to quiet synth ballad. The Sound is closely applied to the 80's and the songs sometimes arranged quite complex. In addition to the for "Pop and Wave" Band Keykoardsounds characteristic for which shows
Markus Korb responsible, the songs are all by the - typical for the genre - rather cool (in the 80s you probably said to cool) and acting aloof vocals of Carsten Grünewald
marked. Why is the band itself, however, their music as "Horrorpop" designated Completely restructured, however, unclear.
If you think that Céleste Noir in 2007, the two other founding members are now being replenished by a third musician, what especially when playing live positively significant falls. Unfortunately, since 2008 some Ruig become the band. At least in terms of publications. Just over 2 years that is currently Last disc, which bears the name

Céleste Noir - reminiscent of the 80s

radio-shadow play awards in February 2010 once a month, the award " Beauty of the Month
. This may be the beauty
a new single or new album. It is also possible that for some reason find an artist without a current publication or a published work for some time into account.

This time has an album enforced, which is already almost 3 months old. The beauty and comes from Pink Turns blouse. Sic so the wavy post-punks set very close to the new album by the I Like Trains . It really was a pure gut feelings between two really great albums that I can really recommend everybody. Crucial to the decision in favor of Pink Turns Blue was the joy over the return of the old band class. When you hear

Storm, it seems almost as if the album direct from Nachfoger
